Well Guides, grid and slices are really different but to explain that is will take too much time.

Grids divide an image.

​

Slices cut an image into portions that can be used to create a graphical web page.

​

The only setting I change is the grid.

Why 33 percent and 3 as subdivision?  Think rule of third.  This way I have it always handy.
